STARTING A CONVERSATION: SERVICE DESIGN(ERS) IN A NEW ERA OF SHARING ECONOMY
This was the dissertation I wrote at my Master's program at the Royal College of Art. I had the opportunity to interview what I acknowledge to be the most influential professionals in Service Design and in the Sharing Economy fields — Chris Downs, Co-Founder at Normally and one of the pioneers of SD discipline in the UK, and Aldo de Jong, Co-Founder at Claro Partners, who is creating and applying new Service Design tools worldwide as well as innovative techniques to meet the demands of the Sharing Economy.
‘Cons’, from ‘Conversations’, relates to bringing things together. Therefore, to examine these inquiries, I decided to take the title of this dissertation literally and created a conversation between these two main actors and included myself as the narrator who complements their thoughts with writings from other contemporaries and as the one who ties the dots together, with the aim to explore new sharing-based services and how to design for them in this 21st. century.
